Ministry Team

Anissa Glaser-Bacon
Pastor

Born in Massachusetts and raised in Maine, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Southern Maine, a Master of Arts (with a concentration in sacred music) from Bangor Theological Seminary, and a Master of Divinity from Boston University.

I most recently served as Senior Pastor at First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek, Ohio. Previously I joined the staff at Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines, Iowa in June 2007 as an associate minister in the 27-month Transition into Ministry program (funded by the Lilly Endowment). While studying for my Master’s degrees, I was the Director of Music at First Congregational Church in Scarborough, ME, for 10 years. More recently, my ministry has led me to work with the Iona Community in Scotland, as well as Star Island, a United Church of Christ/Unitarian-Universalist retreat center off the coast of New Hampshire. I am proud to be a hymnologist and song leader, with an expertise that has helped churches expand their use of congregational singing in worship using both contemporary and historic sources.

Church work is something of a family affair for me; I am the fifth person in my generation of cousins to enter the ministry.
