Ministry Team

Anissa Glaser-Bacon

Born in Massachusetts and raised in Maine, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Southern Maine, a Master of Arts (with a concentration in sacred music) from Bangor Theological Seminary, and a Master of Divinity from Boston University.

I most recently served as Senior Pastor at First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek, Ohio. Previously I joined the staff at Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines, Iowa in June 2007 as an associate minister in the 27-month Transition into Ministry program (funded by the Lilly Endowment). While studying for my Master’s degrees, I was the Director of Music at First Congregational Church in Scarborough, ME, for 10 years. More recently, my ministry has led me to work with the Iona Community in Scotland, as well as Star Island, a United Church of Christ/Unitarian-Universalist retreat center off the coast of New Hampshire. I am proud to be a hymnologist and song leader, with an expertise that has helped churches expand their use of congregational singing in worship using both contemporary and historic sources.

Church work is something of a family affair for me; I am the fifth person in my generation of cousins to enter the ministry.

Tracy Glaser-Bacon
Partner In Ministry

Tracy is currently serving both New Vision United Church of Christ (ONA) and Bella Hospice (as a Hospice chaplain). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Akron (’93) and has almost fifteen years experience working in the environmental regulatory compliance field in the manufacturing sector. Tracy was one of the original pastoral leaders when New Vision UCC was formed. In addition to sharing the responsibility of interim pastoral leadership for New Vision UCC in the early years, Tracy has pursued lay ministry education through the Eastern Ohio Association of the Ohio Conference of The United Church of Christ’s Partners In Ministry (PIM) Program for the last ten years. A certified PIM since 2007, Tracy completed an internship focusing on chaplaincy in 2010 to become an Accredited Partner in Ministry. Tracy was accepted to Licensed Ministry to serve New Vision UCC in 2009 and ordained to the Christiam Minister in August of 2016.

Tracy excels at interpersonal relationship-building in the context of congregational care, and participates in worship regularly as prayer leader. Tracy continues to enjoy preaching when asked to fulfill pulpit supply needs within local UCC churches.

In her spare time, Tracy is a voracious reader, a pet lover, an accomplished home improver, an amateur chef, a fledgling writer, an “almost was” musician, a “wanna-be” starving artist (photographer), a motor scooter rider and tinkerer, a Level I Reiki practitioner, a pub philosopher, and she is adept in technology and social media networking. For those who are keeping score at home, she tries not to take herself too seriously, but as a Virgo it is a daily challenge!

Personal Mission Statement: “ I do what I do because I love people and I love Christ. On those days when I find myself not loving people, I continue to love and to depend on Christ, who eventually sets might heart right again to love people.”
